March 2018 - Surgical Trip

The objective of this March's trip to Haiti was to complete needed surgeries for patients in the Petite Rivière de l'Artibonite region of Haiti.  The surgeries were completed at Hopital Charles Colimon in Petite Rivière.  The trip, including travel days, was one week long.

This year's rockstar volunteer team consisted of 2 general surgeons, a vascular surgeon, an OB/GYN, a gastroenterologist, an anesthesiologist, 2 nurse anesthetists, a nurse practitioner, a physician assistant, 4 registered nurses, a surgical technician, 1 marketer, 1 College student, and 3 High School students.  Some of the volunteers were medical trip veterans and some were first timers, but every volunteer made a huge impact on Northeast Hope for Haiti and the people of Petite Rivière.

Over the course of four and a half operation days, 111 operations were performed and there was not a single complication.

Thank you to all the volunteers who attended the trip and the volunteers who helped out behind the scenes in the US.  Also thank you to all the people and organizations that supported this trip and made these life changing and life saving surgeries possible.
